Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead (2006)
We all knew that this day would come. The day that I post my first Troma film. I was giving this some thought because with Troma films there is so much to cover and everyone seems to have their favorite. I am just happy that there are other Troma film fans out there.
So why “Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead”? Odds are it is because of “Thankskilling” and I like to do things in relational mental themes. If you have not seen this film or any Troma films then it is difficult to explain but for this simple blog post I will assume that you have seen at least one. What you get in “Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead” is a tongue and cheek quasi-parable about fast food, zombie chickens, and some commentary on some of the ugly of the American lifestyle. The film is painted in colorful offensive material, offensive dialog, nudity and gore. It is not something to be taken too seriously as all of the previous is displayed in an extreme tone that is absurd and IT IS A MUSICAL. The film is riddled with inside jokes about other zombie related films, which show that there was some thought put into the script. I think that there is a need in society to just cut loose and watch something a little out there or extremely bad from time to time. I find this movie to be particularly funny, but then I like absurdest humor because it has an intellectual stimulation that is all it’s own.
Anyway “Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead” can be found in a 3-disc collector’s set if you are a super fan. I have not seen all the bonus material and I can only imagine the fun that is on them.
This is not the official movie trailer but the trailer for Troma after Dark. I like this trailer more than the original because it gives you a better taste as to what the film is all about.
