“Tastes Like Trash…but I kinda like it.”
The Sites Story - Tastes like trash is a blog style clearing house for information about trash/B-rated media, mostly motion pictures. If you know of some trash/B movies or are of the like mind that you enjoy b-grade motion pictures then you have stumbled upon the correct place to share your knowledge. As the internet grows and digital media gets larger and faster I believe that there is a need in society to document, educate, discuss and analyze what people consider to be “bad” as a means of educating ourselves as to what is “good”. The theory behind this is if you can develop a taste for trash then you will never be disappointed.
My Story - Motion pictures, to me, are the highest form of artwork, and I have loved movies all my life. Everything was going just fine, I was watching main stream films. I would want to watch whatever film had the most commercials on TV. I would buy into the films with a pumped up and highly marketed trailers and for the longest time these were the only movies that I wanted to watch. But when I got into college something happened. I started taking film classes and they got me thinking more about the choices in movies that I make while forcing me to watch and analyze films that I would not have normally watched. It was around this time that I realized that I had to make a decision. I had to either accept all movies as awesome or forfeit my love of them. Acceptance, I surmised, was going to be the only way that I was going to be able to get through my classes and still love movies in the end. Besides, I told myself, there is always at least one highlight in any movie it is just a matter of finding it. Maybe the score is remarkable or maybe there is a single shot that is amazingly creative that in my mind redeems the entire work. This theory stuck with me and sure enough every film I have watched since I have not been let down by. Trash movies are not an exception to this theory they are the tower on the hill and the best example of media’s lowest denominator. If you can develop a taste for trash then you will never be disappointed. Heck, most of the time I am entertained and thoroughly enjoy the adventure through the movie trash bin.
